Delete Your Data
Last updated: April 2026
You can delete your Šmudla account and all associated personal data at any time. There are two ways to do it.
Option 1 — Delete from the app (recommended)
- Open Šmudla and tap your name pill (top-right)
- Open Account settings
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account
- Confirm twice
Your account is removed immediately. If you are the only owner of a household, the household and all of its data are deleted with you. If others remain in the household, you are simply removed from it.
Option 2 — Email request
If you cannot access the app (for example, you lost access to your phone number or email), send a request to hello@smudla.app from the address or phone number you used to sign up. Include the words "delete my account" in the subject line.
I will verify your identity and process the deletion within 7 days.
What gets deleted
- Your account (name, email, phone number, authentication)
- Any households where you are the sole owner — completely wiped, along with all rooms, tasks, shopping lists, and history
- Your membership in shared households (you are removed; the household continues for the other members)
- Activity logs you created, push notification tokens, and all personal settings
What may be retained
Anonymized server logs may be retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging. These do not contain personally identifying information.
In households where you were a member (but not the sole owner), a minimal "former member" record remains so past activity can still be attributed: your display name plus one-way cryptographic hashes (SHA-256) of your email and phone number. These hashes cannot be reversed to your original contact info and are deleted when the household itself is deleted.
